Katsina State Empowerment Program Training

Complete Highlight of ICT Centre B – Graphic Design Training at the Just-Concluded 9jafoodfiesta Empowerment Program in Katsina

The 9jafoodfiesta Skill Empowerment Program is a growing national movement with an ambitious vision — to train 2,000 youths, women, and people with disabilities across each of the 36 states in Nigeria, reaching a total of over 72,000 lives. As part of this mission, the organization partnered with the Katsina State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs, led by the Honourable Commissioner Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua, to empower 2,500 participants in Katsina State with relevant skills across different sectors.

One of the major skill was in  ICT – Centre B, located at Family Support School, Katsina, where participants heard their free Skill Training on Graphic Design.

This training focused on equipping participants with practical knowledge in:

  • The fundamentals of Graphic Design
  • Designing flyers and logos
  • Understanding essential design principles
  • Using basic graphic tools and applications

Despite varying levels of exposure to technology, the participants displayed impressive dedication. Many of them had little or no experience before the training, but by the end of the one-month program, they had gained valuable skills and confidence in their creative abilities.

The classes were conducted twice weekly — Saturdays and Sundays — throughout the month, ensuring flexibility for the participants while maintaining consistency in their learning.

Now that the training has concluded successfully, the beneficiaries eagerly await the certificate award, the official closing ceremony, and possible start-up packs that will enable them to apply their skills and begin their own design careers or freelance businesses.

This is not just a training — it is the birth of opportunities, and 9jafoodfiesta, with the support of the Katsina State Government, is proving that true empowerment lies in building people, not just infrastructure.

Stay tuned as we share more highlights from other centres and categories in this incredible Katsina empowerment journey.
