This nationwide initiative, spearheaded by 9jafoodfiesta, is on a bold mission to empower 2,000 youths, women, and persons with disabilities across all 36 states of Nigeria — a vision to impact over 72,000 lives. In Katsina State, the program was executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, under the leadership of Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua, successfully training 2,500 people across multiple skill centres.

At ICT Centre C, participants were enrolled in a free, one-month Website Development training that ran every Saturday and Sunday, allowing flexibility while providing consistent hands-on learning.

The training covered key web and digital skills such as:

  • How to build professional, responsive websites without coding
  • Creating a blog or business portfolio website
  • Setting up a website on local server
  • Purchasing a domain name and hosting
  • Deploying real websites on live servers

Toward the end of the program, participants were divided into groups and tasked with creating fully functional business websites on live servers — applying everything they had learned in real time. This exercise helped build confidence and showed just how far they had come in just a few weeks.

“I never thought in my life I will learn how to create a website thanks to 9ja food fiesta now I am proud to call my self a young developer because I have created my restaurant website and it was so beautiful. I’m honored to be a beneficiary of this program may Almighty reward you. Thank you so much” shared one proud participant.

The training also included guidance on how to market their new skills, pitch to clients, and start freelancing or offering web development services within their communities.

Now that the training has ended, the participants are excitedly looking forward to:

  • Receiving their certificates of completion
  • Attending the grand closing ceremony
  • And possibly receiving startup support (such as hosting or laptops) from the Katsina State Government to help them launch their careers in tech.

This centre produced not just new websites — but new hope for young creatives eager to join the digital economy. With tools, knowledge, and support, they are now better positioned to create, earn, and thrive in a connected world.

Stay tuned as we share more centre highlights from this powerful journey of empowerment across Katsina State, powered by 9jafoodfiesta.
