Data is the new oil, and those who can interpret it hold the power to drive smarter decisions, businesses, and systems. That was the driving force behind the Data Analysis training at ICT-Centre D, hosted at WTC Government Girls Day College, WTC Road, Katsina, as part of the 9jafoodfiesta Empowerment Program.
This training was one of several offered under the program’s larger mission — to empower 2,000 youths, women, and persons with disabilities across all 36 states in Nigeria, targeting a total of over 72,000 lives. In Katsina State, the program reached 2,500 participants, thanks to a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Women Affairs, led by Honourable Commissioner Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua.

At Centre D, participants enrolled in a free one-month training that took place every Saturday and Sunday, learning the foundations of data analysis and how to apply those skills practically, even with no prior tech background.
The training covered essential skills such as:
- What data analysis is and its role in decision-making
- The responsibilities of a data analyst
- How to collect, clean, and organize data
- Using Microsoft Excel to analyze real-life datasets
By the end of the month, many participants—some of whom had never opened a spreadsheet before—were confidently navigating Excel, using formulas, cleaning messy data, and interpreting it to solve problems or gain business insights.
Beyond the technical skills, the sessions also helped participants see how they could apply these tools in real life—offering freelance data services, supporting community projects, or helping businesses make sense of their records.
As the training concluded, participants now look forward to:
- Receiving their certificates of completion
- Attending the closing ceremony
- And possibly, receiving support tools or mentorship to help them further explore opportunities in tech and data
Through this training, ICT Centre D didn’t just teach software — it built problem-solvers. Many participants left feeling equipped to enter a digital space they had previously seen as out of reach.
