In a world increasingly driven by technology, learning computer skills is no longer optional—it’s essential.
At Centre A – Ideas and Data, Kofar Sauri, Katsina, dozens of determined participants enrolled in a free ICT skill training—a key part of the 9jafoodfiesta Empowerment Program, executed in partnership with the Katsina State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs, led by Hajiya Hadiza Yar’adua.
This impactful initiative is a step toward achieving 9jafoodfiesta’s national mission to empower 2,000 youths, women, and persons with disabilities in each of Nigeria’s 36 states—a bold vision to train over 72,000 Nigerians across ICT, Agriculture, Culinary Arts, and Fashion Design.

At the Centre A ICT class, participants were taken through a 1-month intensive training, held twice weekly (Saturdays and Sundays). The curriculum included:
- Computer appreciation (hardware and software)
- Basic internet setup and usage
- Introduction to typing and keyboard confidence
- Getting started with Microsoft Word
For many, it was their first encounter with a computer—yet they embraced it with excitement and commitment. Their growth over just four weeks was evident, and their stories, inspiring.
“I had never used a computer before, but now I can type and open documents. It’s like discovering a new world,” shared one of the beneficiaries.
With the training phase completed, participants now await:
- Certificates of participation
- Details on the grand closing ceremony
- Possible startup pack support from the Katsina State Government to aid their journey forward
This wasn’t just a tech class. It was an opportunity. A fresh start. A reminder that with the right support, anyone can learn, grow, and rise.
